What is
it like living with depression and anxiety?
So here is my story, I notice
that things where a bit off or wasn't right with me when I was the age of 15, I
felt so lost, alone and sad all of the time and I didn't know why and I thought
it was going to pass and it did for small period of time.
The feelings of hate, loneliness,
sadness were always at the back of mind, some days where better than other and
most days were the complete worse, but I would always hide these feeling inside
and just let it sit there for a number of years
During my time at university
these symptoms of depression because worse with a mental breakdown at university
library crying my eyes, I was numb, felt like a zombie, just living my life
with no motivation. soon after I graduated, feeling a bit trapped and worried
about my future and the constant pressure of trying to figure myself out, I
started to develop anxiety and being having panic attacks, some days I felt
like I was going to die or even leave my house, I just started isolated myself
from everybody around me and I often wondered that maybe I’m off noting being
alive anymore, even though I never would dare to actually commit suicide, but I
would be lying if I said I never thought about it.
I decided to go to the GP and get help and that when they diagnosed me with depression and anxiety ( panic disorder).
i have to live with learning on how to control my panic attack daily and learn what triggers it and what i can do whenever i am in that situation.
yes you would feel like your dying, like your going to faint, but know that your okey and it would pass and take a deep breath.
The symptoms of clinical
depression are the following
•
Persistent sad, anxious or
"empty" mood
•
Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
•
Feelings of guilt, worthlessness,
helplessness
•
Loss of interest or pleasure in
hobbies and activities.
•
Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling
"slowed down"
•
Difficulty concentrating,
remembering, making decisions
•
Insomnia, early-morning awakening, or
oversleeping
•
Low appetite and weight loss or
overeating and weight gain
•
Thoughts of death or suicide, suicide
attempts
•
Persistent
physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches,
digestive disorders and pain for which no other cause can be diagnosed
The symptoms of Generalised anxiety disorder are the following
•
restlessness
•
a sense of dread
•
feeling constantly "on
edge"
•
difficulty concentrating
•
irritability
Your symptoms may cause you to
withdraw from social contact (seeing your family and friends) to avoid feelings
of worry and dread.
You may also find going to work
difficult and stressful, and may take time off sick. These actions can make you
worry even more about yourself and increase your lack of self-esteem.
Physical symptoms of Generalised anxiety disorder
GAD can also have a number of
physical symptoms, including:
•
dizziness
•
tiredness
•
a noticeably strong, fast or
irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
•
muscle aches and tension
•
trembling or shaking
•
dry mouth
•
excessive sweating
•
shortness of breath
•
stomach ache
•
feeling sick
•
headache
•
pins and needles
•
difficulty falling or staying asleep
(insomnia)

I still go through depression and anxiety, its learning what triggers it and how you can prevent it from happening and always know that you are not alone.
